2034-35 Budget Announced

The Education Minister has stated there will be an additional £150,000 allocated to education to bring uneducated figures below 10%. The city’s highly educated numbers are above 50%. Energy bills are set to rise by 23% from £121 a year to £150 a year, capped until 2035. Minimum wage is set to rise to £7.41hr (£14,227yr). The Transport Secretary has announced an additional £450,000 towards public transport and to keep the free-transport scheme for another year. He has also announced an additional £600,000 to introduce the scheme to every resident, starting 15th April. He has also announced an additional £1,500,000 towards road conditions, reducing motorway speed limits to 75mph from 95mph, cycle lanes in parts of the city. The £1.5m is also set to introduce an “avenue” style like for parts of the motorway, which would see the speed limit reduce to 40mph. Sound barriers and bus lanes will be introduced the whole motorway network. An additional £350,000 will be introduced to improve train services and bus services, which includes the frequency of routes available. The Health Secretary has announced an additional £2,000,000 to build 10 new GP clinics, as well as upping healthcare works minimum wage from £7.50hr to £9.50hr. This will also see A&E waiting times slash from 30 minutes to the 10 minute target. A further £1,000,000 will be allocated to hiring 3,000 nurses and 6,000 doctors. This years budget includes a total of £6,050,000. The Treasury Minister has stated, in the year April 2033 - April 2034, inflation peaked at 6.3%, in October, with it now at 6%. Interest rates are 4% to fight inflation rising anymore. Conservative Leader stated, “The reason inflation has spiked is because the Labour government is throwing money out, with means demand grows, therefore prices grow”.
